Obituary of John K. Harrison

The world lost a giant of a man on Monday morning at the age of 91. John K Harrison, of Jamestown, NY, better known as Jack Harrison, was known for being a stubborn, charismatic man with a huge heart that took nonsense from no one and would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. He lived a colorful and interesting life that included time as a soldier in the Army, as a milkman, and as a general contractor with many interesting stories connected to each of those phases in his life. Eventually he became a roofer and started his own roofing company, accepting jobs that no one else in town would touch. Fearless Jack could be seen walking those roofs with ease and his habitual swagger. Eventually he opened Duggan's bar on East Second Street in 1976, and in 1990 he built The House That Jack Built in Greenhurst, NY. With Jack's strong work ethic and the assistance of his ex-wife, Barbara Harrison, along with many family members and friends, both bars thrived. When he wasn't working, Jack was a Harley Davidson enthusiast and attended Bike Week in many states, including his favorite in Daytona several times. Jack is survived by his partner of over 40 years, Cindy Henry, and 5 children: Jimmy Stover, Jackie (Kaila) Harrison, Matthew (Christina) Harrison, Michelle Harrison, and Elizabeth (Carl) Harrison Thompson. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Marsha Stover, David Stover, Jasen Harrison, Jarred Harrison, Desiree Brooks, Benny Morello, Danielle Johnson, Karyn Harrison, Aliah Sample, Treyvaughn Jackson, and Jerell Jackson. Jack was also a great-grandfather. Jack has two surviving sisters: Mary Jane Spaulding and Kathleen Sas (Leonard), along with several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents William H. & Marion K. Harrison, he was preceded in death by two sons, Patrick Harrison, and Robert Daniels, three brothers, William H. Harrison, Jr., Richard A. Harrison, and W. Joseph Harrison, two sisters, Elizabeth A. Harrison, and Margaret J. Krier. The family would like to welcome friends and family to a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 1:30 pm Saturday, October 29, 2022, in Holy Apostles Parish at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery following the mass. The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm Friday, October 28, 2022, in the Lind Funeral Home. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Holy Apostles Parish, 508 Cherry St. Jamestown, NY 14701.
