Obituary of Paul G. Meyerhoff

Dr. Paul George Elwood Meyerhoff, 75, of 3419 Old Fluvanna Road, died Wednesday October 19, 2022, in UPMC Hamot, Erie, PA. He was born December 5, 1946, in Ethiopia, a son of the late Elwood and Margaret Childs Meyerhoff. He was a graduate of Arcade High School, the University of Rochester, and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry. Paul practiced dentistry for almost 50 years, continuing to see patients at his Forestville office right up until the weeks before his passing. He took great pride in his work and valued helping others. He was known for taking calls and seeing patients at all hours. Very many of his patients became good friends. He attended Kiantone Congregational Church and was a member of the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. Paul was a highly intelligent man with many interests. He was a poet, adventurer, and skilled downhill and water skier. He was an avid reader, who enjoyed plays, especially Shakespeare. He was a loving and devoted husband and father who worked hard to provide for his family. More than anything, he was a man of unwavering Christian faith. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Brenda Town Meyerhoff; three children - Benjamin Meyerhoff of Denver, CO, Shannon Meyerhoff of Greensboro, NC, and Shelley Meyerhoff of Fredericksburg, VA; four grandchildren - Caleb, Noah and Adah Meyerhoff, as well as Oliver Ikhsan; and a brother - John Meyerhoff of Florida. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Eleanor Bowman, and a sister-in-law, Janice Meyerhoff. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Kiantone Congregational Church. Friends and family will be received in the fellowship hall of the church following the service. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
