Carl H. Malta, 85, of Jamestown, NY, passed away peacefully at 2:30 am Saturday, November 12, 2022, in his home. A lifelong area resident, he was born February 25, 1937, in Jamestown, NY, a son of the late Charles and Rose Carmen Malta. Carl was a 1955 graduate of Jamestown High School and took many business-related courses in the banking and insurance industry. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving active duty from 1956-1958, stationed in the Panama Canal, and following his discharge served four years as a member of the Army Reserves. Carl was actively employed his entire life; he was employed in the automobile industry as a service manager for McFadden Ford for 21 years and later for Verblaw International Truck Sales and Keefer Dodge. He then entered the banking industry and became manager of the Marine Midland Bank in Jamestown for several years before working as an insurance agent for Prudential Insurance Company, where he was respected as a manager who cared for his clients. In most recent years, Carl owned and operated the most trustworthy, high quality, low-cost, small engine repair shop where he was well known for his excellent workmanship throughout Chautauqua County. Carl was an avid model airplane builder, flyer, and instructor operating from the Goose Creek Model Airfield in Ashville, NY. He also had a passion for the game of golf, participating in the sport for over 50 years. He was active in the Chautauqua County Senior Tour as well as playing for several years in the Italian American Charity Golf Tournament and most recently enjoying his Wednesday golf day with his son Brian. He was a member of the Celoron Rod & Gun Club, the Falconer Rod & Gun Club, the American Legion, the VFW, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. He was also an active member of the South Hills Country Club (skins game), the Conewango Country Club, and the Flying Aces RC Club. Carl received several awards during his professional career including membership in the Prudential Insurance Academy of Honor, was a member of the LUTCF, and served as President of the Chautauqua County Association of Life Underwriters from 1993-1994. Carl is survived by his wife, LouAnn Valone Malta, who he married May 12, 1984, two sons: Scott (Barbara) Malta of Forest, VA, Brian (Valerie) Malta of Sugar Grove, PA, his step-son: Dwayne Shall of Aliquippa, PA, four grandchildren: Destini Malta of Kennedy, NY, Cherish (Chad) Wright of Celoron, NY, Brittany (Jason) Gilbert of Forest, VA, Joseph Malta of Stockton, CA, two step-grandchildren: Shaylyn Tia Shall of Aliquippa, PA, Sarah Arnold of Jamestown, NY, seven great grandchildren: Brooklyn, Parker, Kennedy, and Adeline Gilbert, Hailey Malta, Cheston, and Chase Wright, and his sister, Diane Francis of Pine Island, FL. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Malta, Jr. Carl's passing will fill the lives he touched with great sadness, especially his immediate family. Friends will be received from 4-7 pm Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 11 am Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
