Obituary of Karen K. Johnson

Karen K. Johnson, 75, of 3395 Salisbury Road, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022 in her home and surrounded by her family. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. For 49 years, Karen was the wife of Phillip A. Johnson whom she married September 22, 1973. Karen was born February 20, 1947, in Siren, WI, a daughter of the late Fredrick and Mae Morris Jones, and was salutatorian of her high school class of 1965 at Faith Bible Academy in Missouri. A member of Ellery Baptist Church for over 40 years, where Karen had served as church treasurer and as a Sunday school teacher. She also provided loving, caring Day Care for many children in her home from 1975 to 2020. Along with her husband Phil, Karen created a home where love filled every corner. A nurturing soul, she had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and loved. It was beautiful to see the kindness that came during her illness in the way of cards, food, phone calls, notes, gifts, and visits – evidence of all the love she poured on others during a life well lived. Karen loved being a mother and grandmother and her wish was for the love of her Heavenly Father to be passed on to her children, grandchildren, and all those she touched. Besides her husband Phillip, surviving are three children: Michael (Dawn) Johnson of Bemus Point, and Derek (Heather) Johnson and Kathryn (John) Pawlikowski, both of Delhi, NY; seven very loved grandchildren: Britney (Zack) Myers, Chelsey Holcomb, and Dylan (Anna), Josiah (Shanna), Kayla, Seth and Ian Johnson; a sister, Judy (Darryl) Smock of Wisconsin; two brothers, Darryl (Debbie) Jones of Indiana and Fredrick (Marjie) Jones of South Carolina; and many nieces, nephews and much loved friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, ShirLee Cruts. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22nd in the Ellery Baptist Church. Pastor Jeremy Maslin and Karen's son, Pastor Derek Johnson will officiate. A private burial will take place in the Bemus Point Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home.
