Obituary of Gertrude L. Field

Gertrude L. "Gert" Field, 88, of Jamestown, NY, passed away at 9:55 pm Saturday November 26, 2022, in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. An area resident for most of her life, she was born December 5, 1933, in Warren, PA, a daughter of the late Guy E. and Blanche Allen Parker. Before her retirement she was employed by Bush Industries for several years. In earlier years she was a waitress at the former Five Point Coffee Shop and worked with her husband at Punkins Restaurant. She was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church, the Thule Lodge 127 VASA Order of America, and the Ingjald Lodge 65 Independent Order of the Vikings where she was a past chief of the Diana Lodge. She will be remembered as a loving and caring sister and aunt who loved spending time knitting items for her family members, especially children, and was an avid reader. She was also a loving caregiver to her husband when he became disabled and needed special care. Surviving are two sisters, Patty Bennett, Marie Westerlund both of Jamestown, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alton C. "Punkin" Field whom she married June 17, 1950, and who died April 18, 2013, and four sisters, Grace Parker, Hazel Parker, Betty Mathews, and Jean Vitello. The funeral will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. Pastor Tim Brown of the Fellowship Baptist Church, Massillon, Ohio will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Tuesday in the funeral home. The service will also be livestreamed on our website at www.lindfuneralhome.com, then click the Facebook logo.
