Obituary of Dawn M. Thompson

Dawn M. Thompson, 60, of Jamestown, NY, passed away at 10:10 pm Tuesday, December 20, 2022, in her home surrounded by her family following a lengthy illness. A lifelong area resident, she was born December 31, 1961, in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late Robert O. and Ellen M. Timblin Ericson. Prior to her illness, she was employed as a receptionist for Ames Insurance Company in Falconer, NY for several years and had previously worked as the art department manager for the Post Journal. Dawn was a member of the Kiantone Independent Fire Department Auxiliary and the Falconer Rod & Gun Club. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother who loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, celebrating holidays and birthdays. She was also an animal lover and enjoyed breeding her Yorkies. She loved listening to music and attending musical concerts. She was an avid Buffalo Bills fan who loved attending games in person and watching games with her family and friends. Surviving is her husband of 39 years, Timothy A. Thompson whom she married June 24, 1983, her three children; Amanda (Steve) Halovich, Ryan (Tiffany) Thompson, Katy Thompson all of Jamestown, four grandchildren; Madison, Taylor, Elyse and Tage, and her sister; Jackie (Dale) Newark of NC. Besides her father Robert who died August 14, 1987, and her mother Ellen who died June 6, 1980, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert "Bud" Ericson who died July 11, 2019. The funeral will be held at 3 pm Monday, December 26, 2022, in the Lind Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1-3 pm Monday, two hours prior to the service in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd. Jamestown, NY 14701 or to Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care, 20 West Fairmount Ave. Lakewood, NY 14750. .
