Obituary of Erik Jon Johnson

Erik Jon Johnson, 43, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Portland, Oregon on October 6, 2022. He was born on September 7, 1979, in Orlando, Florida the son of John A. and Lorinda "Lori" K. Johnson. Erik was a 1998 graduate of Seminole High School in Sanford, Florida. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Rollins College in 2003 and a Master of Music Education from Florida State University in 2005. Following graduation from FSU he was employed as a middle school music teacher directing beginning, intermediate, concert and jazz bands. During this time, Erik was proud of growing the school's band program and was excited to be able to share his love of music with more students by adding guitar classes as well. Most recently, while residing in Oregon, he worked in instructional design. His family and friends will remember Erik's warm and caring heart along with his good sense of humor. He was devoted to his faithful rescue dog, Kaiser, and loved taking him on adventures during their many years together. Kaiser joins Erik's family and friends in missing him each day. In addition to his parents of Lakewood, NY, Erik is survived by a brother, Jeffrey (Cherie) Johnson, a nephew, Joseph, and a niece, Angel. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Torolf H. and Onnolee Bylund and his paternal grandparents, C. Elmer and Sigrid Johnson. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
