Obituary of Pamela L. Marchincin

Pamela L. Marchincin, 60, of Jamestown, NY, passed away on Wednesday, January 4th in her home surrounded by her children, Matthew and Stephanie. She was married to and preceded in death by her husband, Steve. They married on August 2, 1986 and celebrated their thirtieth wedding anniversary prior to his death on July 2, 2017. Pam was born on March 14, 1962, the daughter of Robert and Sharon (Oakes) Dowd. She was a graduate of Falconer High School and Jamestown Community College. Pam loved being outdoors and was known for her meticulous landscaping and cultivating beautiful flowers, a passion she shared with her husband Steve. She loved to swim in her indoor and outdoor pools. She always ate dessert first and will be remembered for her beautiful Christmas decor. She enjoyed running, completing the Walt Disney World Marathon, several half marathons, and many 5Ks. At age 54, Pam experienced a rare medical event and with extraordinary courage and fierce determination, she regained the ability to walk. She completed 5Ks and swam thousands of laps, with her most recent favorite activity walking the beaches of Anna Maria Island and Siesta Key in FL. Pam loved the memories and friendships she made in her final years after purchasing a home in Sarasota, FL. She enjoyed being a snowbird and was proud to become an honorary Floridian. Pam made close friends everywhere she went, including her employment at Associated Healthcare and The Resource Center and in many volunteer positions. She was involved in her children's lives in too many ways to count. Pam was a member at First Lutheran Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher and director, and on church council. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Lawrence Dowd. Along with her two children, Matthew Marchincin of Sarasota, FL and Stephanie Marchincin of Jamestown, Pam is survived by her parents and brother, Kenneth Dowd, of Jamestown, NY; mother-in-law, JoAnn Marchincin of Jamestown, NY, and in-laws: Edward Marchincin (Tammy Anthony) of Russell, PA, Perry (Michelle) Marchincin of Rochester, NY, and Betty (Bob) Hedstrand of Busti, NY. She is also survived by niece and nephew, Samantha and Shane Marchincin of Rochester, NY. Pam was truly remarkable. She had a positive attitude and touched so many people throughout her life. She will be remembered for her optimism and tough spirit. A gathering to celebrate Pam's life is being planned and will be announced soon.
