Obituary of Raymond E. Warner

Raymond E. Warner, 87, of Ashville, NY passed away peacefully on January 14, 2023 surrounded by family. Ray was born March 4, 1935 in Jamestown, NY, the son of the late Thoralf and Ebba Warner, and married Joan Warner on January 19, 1979. He was a graduate of Lakewood High School and attended Jamestown Community College. Ray was a self-employed contractor and craftsman. In his early career, he and his father designed and built many houses in and around Lakewood, NY. Later in his career Ray went on to design and install custom cabinetry in many homes in the area. In retirement, Ray restored antique machinery - everything from tractors to automobiles. Ray loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed traveling, fishing, and going on various adventures with his late wife Joan. They visited relatives in Sweden and explored Alaska and traveled elsewhere in the US in their motorhome they dubbed "The Liberator". He also loved all of the dogs he had over the years, including the most recently rescued beagle, Willie. He is survived by his children, Mark (Lynn) Warner of Jamestown, NY, Lori (Brian) Kooken of Ashville, NY and Amy (Andy) Benton of Jamestown, NY; grandchildren, Alisen (Erik) Hazzard of Cary, NC, Brett (Carolyn) Warner of Bradenton, FL, Ed (Demi) Nelson of Panama, NY, Jennifer (Justin) Litzinger of Lakewood, NY, Kelly (Josh) Bennett of Kennedy, NY, Justin (Charly) Fellion of Lakewood, NY, and Andrew Delcamp (Raelyn Robinson) of Buffalo, NY; and great-grandchildren, Maisie and Soren Hazzard, Logan and Katherine Warner, Carlin, Win and Blair Nelson, Jordan Nelson, Brandon Hirsch, Sophia and Aubree Bennett. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Joan who died September 9, 2018; his sisters Nelly, Inga and brother Hugo; and a daughter Brenda and grandson Kristoff Hirsch. The family would like to thank the Cook Family of Ashville for their special friendship. Ray considered you part of his family, as do we. We would also like to thank the staff of Heritage Green Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation facility for the care and kindness shown to Ray during his time there. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 22 in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel W. Cook, retired pastor of Lakewood Baptist Church, will officiate. Visiting hours will be held from Noon to 2 p.m. for two hours prior to the service in the funeral home Sunday. A private family committal service will be held in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
