Obituary of Elaine W. Thorpe

Elaine W. Thorpe, 90, formerly of Lovall Ave. Jamestown, NY, passed away at 12:10 am Monday, January 16, 2023, in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing facility. A lifelong area resident, she was born May 8, 1932, in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late Leo and Helen McGee Woods. Elaine was a 1951 graduate of Jamestown High School. In previous years she was an active member of the Jamestown Christian and Missionary Alliance Church serving on many boards and committees of the church. She was also a member of the Jamestown Twins Club and was a volunteer Gray Lady at the WCA Hospital. Surviving are her four sons; Paul C. (Jackie) Thorpe of AZ, Charles P. (Marsha) Thorpe of Jamestown, NY, Mark W. (Bonnie) Thorpe of Lakewood, NY, Daniel R. (Marcia) Thorpe of Jamestown, NY, a daughter-in-law, Pam Thorpe of Erie, PA, nine grandchildren; Paul Thorpe, Jr, Mitchell Thorpe, Rachel Thorpe, Natalie (Ryne) McCord, Jennifer (Seth) Mastro, Kevin Thorpe, Kyle Thorpe, Kristina (Rich) Johnston, Kelsey (David) Jaroszynski, and eight great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Denton B. "Dent" Thorpe whom she married July 7, 1951, and who died May 26, 2002, a son, David J. Thorpe and a brother, Charles Woods. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Jamestown Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 1011 West Third St. Jamestown, NY 14701.
