Obituary of Elizabeth A. Carlson

Elizabeth Ann Howell-Carlson, 78, formerly of 17 Elam Avenue, 944 Kiantone Road and 743 Falconer Street, died Wednesday January 18, 2023, in UPMC Chautauqua. A lifelong Jamestown resident, she was born April 5, 1944, a daughter of the late Edward and Myrtle McMaster Howell. She was a 1958 graduate of Ss Peter and Paul School, a 1961 graduate of Jamestown High School and later went on to Buffalo Mercy Hospital School of Nursing to become a registered nurse. Prior to her retirement she was employed by Dr. Gregory Thorsell, WCA and Jamestown General Hospitals and per diem at various factories, schools and for the Chautauqua County Health Department. She was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish, Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society, member of the collection counting team and Catholic Daughters of America. She was past president of Allegheny Occupational Health, past president, vice president and secretary of Holy Apostles Altar and Rosary Society and past regent and financial secretary of Court St. Gertrude Catholic Daughters of America. Surviving are two sons Michael E. (Michael P. Condon) Carlson of Fayette, ME and Matthew J. Carlson of Jamestown; grandson Jacob E. Carlson of Bradford, PA; sister Marguerite "Peggy" Eimers of Texas; nephew Mitchell Carlson of Hamburg and three nieces Kristina Kaminski of Hamburg, and Julie Roller and Sarah McPherson both of Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Dale W. Carlson, whom she married July 2, 1966, and who died February 23, 2019.
