Obituary of George A. Bongiorno

George Angelo Bongiorno Jr., 81, of Erie, Pa, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on January 20, 2023. He was born January 5, 1942, in Erie, Pa, a son of the late George and Billie Jean Galoski Bongiorno, Sr. He was a 1961 graduate of Strong Vincent High School and retired as a CNC machinist in 2007. George enjoyed traveling, gambling, bantering, and spending time with his family, especially, his granddaughters. He also enjoyed collecting coins and watching car auctions, WWE wrestling, and UFC fights. George will be remembered by most for his outgoing personality, generosity, and funny stories. There was never a dull moment with George around and his family will forever cherish their memories of him. George has been looking forward to reuniting with his son, Brian Daniel Bongiorno, who preceded him in death in 2004. In addition to his parents, also preceding him are his sister, Christina (Jim) Spencer; his brothers, Steven, and David; and a nephew, Jeffrey Spencer. Surviving is the mother of his children, Mary Alice Kerner Bongiorno; his daughters, Lisa (Rebekah) Bongiorno of Jamestown, NY, and Brenda (Michael) Hertel of Edinboro, Pa; two beloved granddaughters, Breanna and Braelyn; and a dear cousin, Abdullah Mokhriby. George will also be missed by his friends, Nick, and Frank, who he loved as his own. As per George's request, funeral arrangements will be private. Visitation will not be observed.
