Obituary of Harry Pearson

Harry Pearson, of Lakewood, NY died Saturday January 28, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Born September 9, 1939, a son of the late Harry and Ella Williams Pearson and was a lifelong area resident. Harry proudly served his country in the US Army from 1963-65. He was employed by Hope's Windows for his entire career, retiring in 2001 as a shop foreman. He was also co-owner and proprietor of Nelson's Café in Celoron for 23 years. In earlier years Harry could be found at the area's softball diamonds and bowling alleys where he was a keen competitor and jovial teammate. Harry was well known for his offbeat sense of humor and unique powers of observation. He was a very special grandfather and uncle and those who knew him best understood he was happiest in the warm embrace of his family. An avid outdoorsman, Harry enjoyed hunting, fishing and in particular, gathering with family and friends at his in-laws camp. He was a member of the Celoron Moose Lodge, Herman Kent Post American Legion and Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. Harry is survived by his wife Sharyn Faley Pearson, with whom he celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary April 6, 2022; daughters Kimberly (David) Gregor of Wilmington, DE, Wendy (John) Russo of Pendleton, NY and Kerri (Kevin Cedarquist) Baran of Celoron; a sister Louise (Jim) Pullan of Jamestown; seven grandchildren Katherine Gregor, Lauren Theurkauf, Taylor Russo, Matthew Russo, Elizabeth Baran, Kirsten Baran and Thomas Baran and a great granddaughter Edith Theurkauf. Besides his parents he was preceded by three brothers George Mosley, Richard Pearson and Donald Pearson. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. A private burial will be held at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
