Obituary of Mildred D. Cowan

Mildred D. "Millie" Cowan, 101, of Williamsville, NY, formerly of Lakewood, NY, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2023, in her home. Millie was born December 29, 1921, in Hecla, South Dakota, a daughter of the late Roy E. and Bertha Edmonds Doolittle, Sr. She was a 1939 graduate of Jamestown High School and attended Anderson College for a short time and a business college in Erie, PA. Millie was a gentle spirit who had many friends. She was a wonderful wife, mom, and grandma and was an excellent cook and baker. For a season she made goat milk fudge that she sold at her sister's stand at Felton's Beach on Lake Erie. She wasn't afraid to try new things and shared many traveling adventures with her sister and a dear friend. Millie loved the Lord and lived out her faith daily. She was cherished and loved by many friends and family and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her children, Janice Johnson of Dayton, OH, Thomas Cowan of Cheektowaga, NY, three grandsons, Christopher and Jonathan Morris, and Michael Cowan as well as her fourteen great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W. Cowan whom she married August 24, 1946, and who died March 9, 2011, a granddaughter, Cinda Lee Morris .a sister, Ethel Felton, and a brother, Roy E. Doolittle, Jr. The funeral will be held at 11 am Saturday, February 25, 2023, in the Lind Funeral Home. Her daughter, Janice Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
