Obituary of Marilyn P. Pedersen

Marilyn P. Pedersen, 92, of 120 Harris Avenue, died Thursday March 9, 2023, in UPMC Chautauqua. She was born April 20, 1930, in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Nelson and Margaret Peterson Palmer. She was a 1948 graduate of Jamestown High School. Prior to her retirement she was employed by Jamestown Public Schools as a cafeteria worker at R.R. Rogers Elementary School for 16 years. She also worked as an election inspector for many years. Her memberships include Lakewood Memorial Post 1286 American Legion Auxiliary, Thule Lodge and life member of Bush Elementary School PTA. She enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, roller skating, and, for over 6 decades, going to lunch once per month with "the girls" from high school. In earlier years she loved traveling with her husband to Florida, Arizona, and to numerous Army reunions. More than anything she dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, getting together for family events and always wanting to know what's going on in their lives. Surviving are three children Richard Pedersen of California, Sharon (Jeffrey) Jenkins of Lakewood and Kathleen (Joseph) Vaccaro of Jamestown; grandchildren Jessyca Bernier of Ludlow, MA, Jonathan Jenkins of Chicago, IL, Joseph (Amanda) Vaccaro of Spotsylvania, VA, Jason Vaccaro of Jamestown, and Jennifer (David) Conrad of Morgantown, WV; step granddaughter Michelle Mathews of California; great grandchildren Holden, Tobin and Molly Bernier, Chloe and Lauren Vaccaro and step great granddaughter Jennifer Mathews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Norman Pedersen, who died April 27, 2010; daughter in law Jennifer Pedersen and siblings Earl, Wallace and Roger Palmer, Donna Hallberg, Barbara Thompson, Beverly Moon and Joanne Utt. The funeral will be held at 2 pm Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home, where friends will be received from noon to 2 pm (2 hours prior to the service). Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice. You may leave words of condolence at www.lindfuneralhome.com.
