Obituary of Wendy J. Howig

Wendy J. Howig, 71, of 3584 Lakeridge Drive, Jamestown, passed away early Saturday morning, March 11, 2023, at the Star Hospice House in Lakewood. She was the wife of Donald J. Howig whom she married Dec. 12, 1981. Wendy was born Jan. 9, 1952 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Arthur and Barbara Judd Young, and was a 1970 graduate of Pine Valley Central School. She then earned her Bachelor's degree from Grove City College in 1974. For most of her career, Wendy was a tax accountant at her family business, Young Tax Service in Jamestown. She was also an active member of Fluvanna Community Church, serving as assistant church treasurer for many years. Along with her husband Don, surviving is a son, David (Danielle) Howig and her deeply loved six grandchildren: Hannah, Ava, Elizabeth, Ariella, Joshua and Jeremiah Howig, all of Rochester; a sister, Brenda (Bruce) Hendricks of Cherry Creek, NY and brother, Wayne (Susan) Young of Jamestown; as well as several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Fluvanna Community Church. The Rev. Todd Wentworth will officiate. Burial will be in the Cherry Creek Cemetery. Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home.
