Obituary of Thomas L. Patton

Thomas Lawrence Patton, 81, of 132 Pennsylvania Ave., died Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at UPMC Chautauqua. He was born in Minerva, OH on June 29, 1941, a son of the late Walter Lawrence and Rofa Mabel Slingluff Patton, and following high school, attended Kent State University. In earlier years, he was employed by TRW in Ohio. After moving to the area in 1977, he was employed by Cummins Engine as a quality control engineer. A member of the Eagles and the Elks, Tom enjoyed sports and was a fan of the Browns, Yankees and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Surviving are two children, Bradley Thomas Patton, Sr. (Lori) of Jamestown and Deborah Kay Blind (Jim) of Wadsworth, OH; two stepsons, Ronnie Todd Ruggerio of Jamestown and Richard Thomas Ruggerio (Holly) of Columbus, OH; eight grandchildren: Bradley Thomas Patton, Jr. (Nicki), Brittany Bourne (Dustin), Brianna Lunsford (Jordan), Jesse Patton (Bre), Sarah Patton, Graham Blind, and Sofie and Mia Ruggerio; as well as eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are four siblings: Charlotte Holderbaum of New Philadelphia, OH, Richard Patton of Painesville, OH, Joan Rossow of Louisville, OH and Francis Evans (Jerry) of Minerva, OH; and a brother-in-law, David Hedin (Judy) of Kernersville, NC. A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service.
