Obituary of Lawrence G. Anderson

Lawrence "Larry" G. Anderson, 89, a long-time resident of Bemus Point, NY, passed away Monday, April 3rd, 2023. He was born October 2nd, 1933 in Red House, NY, the son of the late Gerald and Berma Hubbard Anderson. He married Marilyn A. Danielson, the love of his life, on June 28, 1957. Larry graduated from Randolph High School at the age of 16 in 1950. He worked for several years in Allegany State Park, and then went on to earn his Associate's Degree from Jamestown Community College. After JCC, Larry served in the U.S. Army. He then joined Marlin Rockwell/TRW, and ultimately SKF, and worked over 35 years in many roles, including distribution management, engineering and product service. Larry loved the outdoors and many activities – skiing, baseball, fly fishing, and camping. Along with his wife, Marilyn, he also enjoyed gardening, travel, and all kinds of cooking. In his later years, he became a master wood carver focusing on birds and duck decoys. His love of birds led him to volunteer at the Jamestown Audubon Community Nature Center. Larry was preceded in death by his parents as well as his beloved wife Marilyn, to whom he was married for 60 years. He is survived by two sons - Gary (Nancy) Anderson of North East, PA and David (Patty) Anderson of Saratoga Springs, NY; five grandchildren - Kaelan (Tyler) Glass of Gansevoort, NY, Dylan Anderson and his fiancé Kate Wilson of Columbia, MD, Tyler Anderson of Las Vegas, NV, Ryan Anderson of Washington, DC, and Jacob Anderson of Portsmouth, NH. He is also survived by his sister, Sondra Durphy of Boston, NY, and his brother, Lance (Ann Marie) Anderson of Red House, NY, along with several nieces and nephews. A private burial service will be held in the Bemus Point Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a future date to be determined by the family.
