Obituary of Gary Kennelley

Gary W. Kennelley, 71, of 2425 Horton Road, died Tuesday May 2, 2023, in UPMC Hamot, Erie. A Jamestown native, he was born July 6, 1951, a son of the late William and Emily Parsons Kennelley. He was a 1969 graduate of Maple Grove High School. Prior to his retirement he was employed by the Salamanca Casino as food and beverage assistant manager. He earlier had been manager of War Vets Recreation for 20 years. He was a member of Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. In his younger days he excelled at playing flag football, baseball, football, and bowling. Surviving are his mother Emily Kennelley of Jamestown; the love of his life, his wife, Delora "Dee" Leonard Kennelley, whom he married September 8, 1979 and he was her rock for 43 years; three children Jody Zahn of Lakewood, Heather Yarbrough of Illinois and Troy (Jessica) Kennelley of Bemus Point; a grandson Zachary Zahn; great granddaughter Cynia Rose Zahn; siblings Mark (Judy) Kennelley, Brian Kennelley, Diane (Rod) Bottomley, Polly Anne Murray and Gordon Kennelley and his dog and best friend Lacey who is lost without him. He was preceded in death by his father and a son Todd Kennelley. The funeral will be held at 3 pm Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home where friends will be received for one hour prior to the service.
