Obituary of Roslyn M. Adams

Roslyn M. "Roe" Giambra Adams, 70, of 2251 Second Ave., Lakewood, NY, passed away at 9:25 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015, in her home with her loving family by her side, as they have been throughout her courageous battle with cancer. A lifelong area resident, she was born June 2, 1944 in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late Mario and Frances D'Angelo Giambra. She was a 1962 graduate of Jamestown High School and was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish at St. John Catholic Church. Before her retirement, she was employed by W.C.A. Hospital for 10 years, where she worked the deli in the cafeteria and was known as the sandwich lady. Roslyn always put everyone first and always had a beautiful smile. After retiring from W.C.A. in 2011, she worked part time for the Basket Company. In earlier years had worked for the former Nellie's Deli and Joann's Deli in downtown Jamestown. Surviving are her husband of 50 years, which they celebrated this past November, John T. Adams whom she married November 7, 1964, two daughters, Debra Roberts (Theresa) of Blockville, NY, Lorraine Adams (Mark Nupp) of Jamestown and a brother, Dr. Leonard Giambra (Nancy) of Salem, Conn. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, James D'Angelo, maternal grandmother, Carmela D'Angelo, with whom she had a very special relationship, her paternal grandparents, Leonard and Rose Giambra, her in-laws, Norma Agnoli Adams and Joseph Adams, a brother in law, Joe Adams, a cousin Frankie Schepis and her dear friend, Jeanne Morgenstern. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m Thursday at Holy Apostles Parish at St. John Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be made to Hospice Chautauqua County, 20 West Fairmount Ave. Lakewood, NY 14750, the American Lung Association, the American Cancer Society or the American Parkinson's Disease Association.
