Obituary of Arthur D. Patchen

Arthur D. "Art" Patchen, 86, of 58 Woodworth Ave. Jamestown, NY, formerly of Randolph and Salamanca, NY, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2015, in his home following a brief illness. He was born January 7, 1929 in Salamanca, NY a son of the late Francis E. and Anne Conroy Patchen. Art was a 1947 graduate of Jamestown High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1950 -1952 during the Korean War. Before his retirement he was employed by Lundgren Chevrolet in Randolph and Akeley, PA for many years. He also served as the Camp Ranger for Girl Scout Camp Timbercrest in Randolph for 17 years. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America where he earned the Eagle Scout and the Silver Beaver Award. He was also a member of the Little Valley American Legion, Post # 0531, the AARP Chapter # 334 Jamestown, the Salamanca See Saws and the Penn York Campers Square Dance Clubs, a member and active volunteer for the Jamestown Audubon Society and a volunteer for the Jamestown Area and Salamanca Meals on Wheels up until the time of his illness. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Sally Edson Patchen whom he married January 3, 1953, his six children, Allan (Natasha) Patchen of Knoxville, TN, Mary Beth (Paul) Mazzone of Ashville, NY, Jean (Dennis) Hanks of Westfield, NY, John (Janice) Patchen of Rochester, NY, Michael (Laura) Patchen of Pittsford, NY, William (Lisa) Patchen of Farmington, NY, 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, three sisters, Rosemary Heckathorn of Java Center, NY, Ann Wood of Westfield, NY, Elizabeth Kannal of Columbus, OH, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and James Patchen. The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Sinclairville, NY at a later date. Friends will be received from 3-6 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
