Obituary of Frederick A. Streed

Frederick A. Streed, 80, of 418 Baker St., died at 7:35 a.m. Sunday, February 8, 2015 in WCA Hospital. He was the husband of Patricia Larson Streed whom he married July 12, 1958. Fred was born April 13, 1934 in Jamestown, a son of the late Inar and Ethel Holmberg Streed. A graduate of Jamestown High School, he served in the U.S. Air Force for 8 ½ years from 1952 until 1960. He later attended Houghton College. Fred had been co-owner of the former Cornell & Reins in Jamestown and for over 20 years was employed as a salesman by Edborg's Appliances. He was a member of Levant Wesleyan Church for many years and more recently, New Hope Community Church. Fred was a devoted church member and well known for his strong faith. In addition to his wife, surviving are a son, Scott (Sherry) Streed of Jamestown and a daughter, Stacy (Owen) Mead of Zephyrhills, FL; six grandchildren: Brianna Streed of Charlotte, NC, Braden Streed and Brittany Streed, both of Jamestown, Nicholas Jaroszynski of Charlotte, NC, Andrew Jaroszynski of Cumming, GA and David Jaroszynski of Hilton Head, SC; a great-granddaughter, Taytem Streed of Charlotte, NC; sister-in-law, Janice Streed of Lakewood; and two nephews, Greg Streed of Jamestown and Darryl Streed of Ashville. He was preceded in death in 2010 by a brother, Allan H. Streed. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in New Hope Community Church. Fred's nephew, the Rev. Gregory Streed will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home.
