Obituary of Betty Ann Guignon

Betty Ann (Carlson) Guignon age 84, of Myrtle Beach, SC, formerly of Jamestown, NY, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Tidelands Community Hospice House in Georgetown, SC. She was born in Andes, NY on September 24, 1930, a daughter of the late C. Martin and Betty Larson Carlson. Betty Ann was a 1948 graduate of Jamestown High School. In her early career she worked as a secretary for the former Maddox Table Company and as an aide at Jamestown High School and later as a secretary for her husband the late Larry Guignon at the Akron Division of Prescotech. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Surfside Beach, SC and was involved in several groups at the church including Circle and Help for Kids. Over the years she was also involved in Cub Scouts as a den mother and assisted with many Boy Scout activities, other activities she enjoyed were welcome wagon, senior singles, red hatters, crafts, knitting, crocheting, sewing, quilting, cooking and baking along with her husband, a member of Shriners International. Betty Ann was a strong supporter of Shriners Hospital for children in Greenville, SC. Surviving is her sister, Claire M. (David) Crawford of Ashville, NY; 2 sons, David (Tanya) Guignon of Ashville, NY and Richard (Mary Anne) Guignon of Morganton, NC; 3 grandchildren, Andrew ( Katie) Guignon and Jennifer (Mark) Frentz and Brandon Guignon; she is also survived by 5 great grandchildren, Sean and Ava Guignon, Madison, Mackenzie and McKayla Frentz. Betty Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Larry P. Guignon whom she married September 30, 1950 and who died September 7, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her mother Betty Larson Carlson February 8, 2015 and her father C. Martin Ccarlson who died March 20, 1985. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2015, in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Violet Davidson, retired United Methodist pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the Bemus Point Cemetery. Friends will be received from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
