Obituary of Audrey T. Derby

Audrey T. Derby, 90, of 2128 Magnolia Ave. Ashville, NY, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2015, in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. An area resident for most of her life, she was born November 10, 1924 in Corry, PA a daughter of the late Claude R. and Alice Mae Armstrong Lindsey. Audrey was a graduate of the former Lakewood High School and before her retirement years was employed for many years at the Lakewood Super Duper Store. She had also worked for Yorktowne Industries and the former Jamesway Department Store. She was a member of the Lakewood Baptist Church and the North Harmony Senior Citizens. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family, especially her sisters. Surviving are two sons, Thomas (Donna) Derby of Cherry Creek, NY, Douglas (Nadine Karl) Derby of Ashville, a daughter, Sandra (Stephen Haller) Weatherley of Kiantone, nine grandchildren, Thomas L. Derby of Jamestown, Dr. Prudence Derby-Hatten of Saucier, MS, Makenzie Derby of Ocean Springs, MS, Dylan Derby of West Ellicott, Jessica Slagle of Jamestown, Zachary Crawford of Panama, Jeremiah Weatherley of North East, PA, Teal Weatherley of Jamestown, Bradley Weatherley of Ashville, 14 great grandchildren and three sisters, Lila Bowen, Lois Vanstee both of Jamestown, Opal Nash of Hollywood, FL. She is also survived by her wonderful caregivers and neighbors Brian and Linda Hosier. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Peterson who died December 27, 2014. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel W. Cook, pastor of the Lakewood Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Friday and for one hour prior to the service on Saturday in the funeral home.
