Obituary of Ivan G. Vik

Ivan Gerald Vik, 72, of 1459 Swede Road, Ashville, died unexpectedly Tuesday September 1, 2015 in the Emergency Department of WCA Hospital. He was born February 14, 1943, in Jamestown, a son of the late Howard and Josephine Conti Vik. Ivan was a graduate of Jamestown High School. He was employed by Dahlstrom Manufacturing for 25 plus years, retiring from Rollform of Jamestown in 2005. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He never spoke and unkind word about others. He loved to garden, cook and do odd jobs around his hobby farm. Many will lovingly remember him for never having a hair out of place. He was a faithful member of Family Church of Jamestown and he loved the Lord. Surviving is his wife Betsy Draty Vik, whom he married July 5, 1997 in Virginia Beach; son Scott (Sharon) Vik of Mooresville, NC and their children Josh, Brandon and Cassidy; daughter Julie (Tim) Conklin of Blockville and their daughters Naomi and Nora; daughter Kristi Vik and her daughter Morgan Vik of Apopka, FL; stepson Keith (Melissa) Olson of Falconer and son Dylan and new baby due in December; stepson Craig (Crystal Holmberg) Olson of Jamestown and children Karin, Lizzy and Matthew (Poppy's little pal); two brothers Rodney (Doris) Vik of Jamestown and Don (Suzanne) Vik of Columbus, PA; his mother-in-law Georgianna Draty of Kane and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son Larry Vik in June 2010. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Family Church. Rev. Timothy Stahlman will officiate. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. today in the Lind Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Family Church Building Fund, 3130 Garfield Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
