Obituary of J. (John) Roger Cade

J. Roger Cade, 88, of 4570 Rt. 60, Gerry, NY, passed away at 8:41 pm Monday, September 7, 2015, in W.C.A. Hospital. He was born August 17, 1927 in Batavia, NY a son of the late Cephias and Jenny Cade. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Japan from March 26, 1946 to March 29, 1947 during World War II. Before his retirement he was employed as an engineer for the Trojan Division of Eaton Yale and Towne, Inc. in Batavia, NY. While living in Batavia for many years he was a member of the Batavia Wesleyan Church and in the past several years was a member of the Fluvanna Community Church. Roger was very active in the Gideon's International for over 50 years. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, the former Dorothy M. Boshart whom he married June 10, 1950, a daughter, Judy (Dan) DeHaven of Bemus Point, NY, two sons, Larry (Beth Anne) Cade of North Java, NY, Jerry (Elaine) Cade of Palmetto, FL, eight grandchildren, Benjamin (Essie) Cade of Liberty, SC, Becky (Joe) Pipino of Parrish, FL, Corey (Danielle) DeHaven of Raleigh, NC, Shane (Aimee) DeHaven of Victor, NY, Dorian (Kristen) DeHaven of Bemus Point, NY, Joshua (Samantha) Cade of Wyoming, NY, Noah (Carrie Reiner) Cade of Bennington, NY, Lorna-Jane (Joseph Connelly) Cade of Tonawanda, NY, eleven great grandchildren, a sister, Zina Rennells of Gerry, NY, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother George Cade. The funeral will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, September 11, 2015, in the Fluvanna Community Church. The Rev. Dayle F. Keefer pastor will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Hillside Cemetery, East Pembroke,NY. Friends will be received from 11:00 to 1:00 pm Friday at the church.
