Obituary of Marjory A. Smith

Marjory A. Smith, 79, of 4909 Kortwright Rd., Ashville, NY, passed away at 6:30 a.m. Thursday, October 8, 2015, in her home. A lifelong area resident, she was born March 8, 1936 in Niobe, NY, a daughter of the late Alfred R. and Lilah I. McNitt James. She was a 1954 graduate of Panama Central School. Before her retirement she was employed as a bus drive for the Panama Central School System for 27 years. In earlier years she had worked for Sylvania Corporation in Warren, PA for several years. She will be remembered as a loving mother and sister who loved to crochet and was an avid doll collector. She also loved decorating her home for the holidays. As an avid animal lover, she and her family raised Belgian horses and she loved her dogs, Winston and Cubbie and her cats. Surviving are two foster sons, Ronald Noyes and Bill Hosack both of Ashville, a brother, Frederick (Maggie) James of Panama, NY, three sisters, Susabelle Wedburg of Busti, NY, Dorothy (Harold) Cornish of Bear Lake, PA, Sally Wilson of Warren, PA, three step-children, Steve Smith of Sugar Grove, PA, Deborah Canaan of Port Charlotte, FL, Cynthia Snell of Sheffield, PA, several step-grandchildren and step- great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas K. Smith whom she married February 14, 1966 and who died July 22, 2011, a cousin Junior McNitt, a niece Christine Cornish and two nephews, Dennis L. James and David H. James. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 12, 2015, in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Timothy Phelps, Chaplain of Hospice Chautauqua County will officiate. Burial will be next to her husband Thomas on the Kortwright Road family farm. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Monday in the funeral home.
