Obituary of Dorothy V. Lindstrom

Dorothy V. Lindstrom, 96, of 73 Boulevard Ave., Celoron, died Monday, October 19, 2015 in her home. She was the widow of Woodrow F. "Woody" Lindstrom whom she married October 30, 1937 and who died March 3, 1998. Dorothy was born May 13, 1919 in Philadelphia, Pa., the daughter of the late Albin and Emelia Fosburg Anderson, and was valedictorian of her graduating class at Celoron High School. Together with her late husband, she owned and operated Woody's Boat House in Celoron for 28 years, retiring in 1983. An active member of Celoron United Methodist Church, Dorothy belonged to the Chautauqua Lake Fishing Association, Herman Kent Post #777 American Legion, Celoron Senior Citizens and Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. She also volunteered for RSVP and Meals On Wheels. Surviving are two daughters: Sally (Joel) Damon of Greenhurst and Nancy Painter of Celoron; six grandchildren: Mark (Vita) Damon of West Ellicott, Zoeann (Tim) Theburg of Harpswell, ME, Timothy Damon of Greenhurst, Robert (Patricia) Mitchell of Virginia Beach, VA, Christine (Gordon) Overturf of Lakewood and Dorothy Painter of Lakewood; as well as seven great-grandchildren and ten great- great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 1p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Heather Allport-Cohoon will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Woody and Dorothy Lindstrom Scholarship Fund at the Chautauqua Lake Fishing Association, 9 Chadakoin Pkwy., Celoron, NY 14720.
