Obituary of Robert J. George

Robert J. George, 88, formerly of 129 Greenhurst Village Drive, passed away Saturday October 24, 2015 in the Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. He was born July 16, 1927 in Jamestown the son of the late John and Laurena Alm George. Bob was a US Army veteran serving during WWII. Prior to retirement in 1989, he was employed at Jamestown Metal Products. Earlier he worked at Mc Kallor Drugs and Jamestown Metal Corp. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and the War Vets. Bob was an avid softball player and bowler. He loved the NY Yankees and Notre Dame sports. Surviving are four daughters, Marie (Jerry) Alonge of Meadville, PA; Diane George of Jamestown; Laurie Ann (Bruce) Wallgren of Virginia Beach, VA; Deborah (Jerry) Reynolds of Lakewood; two sons, John George of Pittsburgh, PA; Joseph George of Frewsburg; 10 grandchildren, Michelle Prosser, Vallerie Travis, Cynthia Alonge-Rowe, Joseph George, James George, Kassidy Wallgren, Kelsey Wallgren, Kolby Wallgren, Kori Reynolds, Jason Reynolds; and 10 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Rapp George whom he married October 26, 1979 and who died October 31, 1999. The funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert J. Kasting, pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church-Tree of Life Parish will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
