Obituary of Patricia L. Shafer

Patricia L. Shafer, 70, of 3032 Jamestown Avenue, Bemus Point, died Tuesday November 10, 2015, in the home of her son Bart. She was born August 25, 1945, in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Willard and Berdena Kent Furlow. Pat was employed as a certified nurse's aide for over 30 years having worked for Lutheran Social Services, Will Care, Inc and Staffbuilders. She loved her work. She had also worked for Yorktowne Industries and for 1980 Census Bureau. She was her family historian, loved to read, and collected Indian dolls as well as many other items. She loved animals especially her dog Joey. Surviving is her former husband John Shafer, Sr, with whom she spent the last 3 years; three sons Bart (Stephanie) Shafer, John (Paula) Shafer, Jr. and Charles Shafer all of Jamestown; a daughter Diana (Brian) Peterson of West Ellicott ; seven grandchildren; Amber Peterson , Brandon Peterson, Kalene Shafer, Jessica Shafer, Justin Shafer, Zachary Shafer , all of Jamestown .Jessica Agen of Granite Falls , WA. 2 great grandchildren ; Analeise and Jordan . One great grandchild expected; two sisters Beverly (Donald) Erickson of Jamestown and Karen (Arthur) Christian of Watts Flats and a brother Kenneth Furlow of Greenhurst. She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday November 21, 2015, in Watts Flats United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be in Blockville Union Cemetery. Friends will be received in the church following the service Saturday. Memorials may be made to Hospice Chautauqua County, 20 W.
