Obituary of John F. Robertson

John F. Robertson, 63, of 1742 South Main St. Ext. passed away unexpectedly at 12:07 p.m. Sunday, November 15, 2015, in the emergency room of W.C.A. Hospital. A lifelong area resident, he was born March 8, 1952 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late William and Ilene I. Anderson Robertson. He was a 1970 graduate of Jamestown High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam from May 26, 1970 to March 11, 1972. Before his retirement he was a machinist for Anderson Precision Inc. where he worked for 18 years. He also taught auto body repair at BOCES for a brief time. John was a member of the Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion, a member and past president of Der Kobblers Auto Club. He was an avid car enthusiast and was very proud of his 1936 Plymouth which he completely restored. He also loved boating on Chautauqua Lake and enjoyed spending time with the D-Dock Group at Ready About Sailing. Most importantly, he loved watching his son's play soccer and would travel to wherever they were playing. Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Cheryl L. Martin Robertson whom he married June 18, 1982, three sons, Mark R. Robertson of Linwood, NC, Scott M. Robertson, Andrew J. Robertson both of Jamestown, a daughter, Jami (Scott) Widrig of Panama, NY, three grandchildren, Alexis Robertson of GA, Tristin Frye, Alex Widrig both of Panama, a close family member and brother of Mark and Jami, Ryan Robertson of Linwood, NC, two brothers, David (Regina) Robertson of Eight Mile, AL, his twin, James (Destiny Swanson) Robertson of Jamestown, a sister, Nancy (Aldo) Amoroso of Jamestown as well as several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Timothy Hoyer, pastor of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Falconer will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 1:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. & 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
