Obituary of Lonnie Huckabone

Lonnie A. Huckabone, 77, of 230 Barrows St. Jamestown, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2015, in the Warren General Hospital, Warren, PA. An area resident for most of his life, he was born September 9, 1938 in Kane, PA a son of the late Ernest and Mildred Asp Huckabone. He was a graduate of Ridgeway High School, Ridgeway, PA and Jamestown Community College. Lonnie was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1956 to 1959 as a Yeoman First Class and served in the Naval Reserve until 1962. Before his retirement due to ill health, he had owned and operated Basic (Brothers and Sisters In Christ) Enterprises from 1978 to 2012. He was well known as one who could fix just about anything. He was a member of the Zion Covenant Church, the Mt. Moriah Lodge 145 Free and Accepted Masons, the Jamestown Optimist Club and a former member of the Jamestown Lions Club. He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who loved spending time trout fishing in local streams and was a biblical scholar. He loved reading and studying the bible and would share his wisdom with everyone. He was an avid sportsman who loved coaching Church League Basketball. In earlier years he enjoyed playing football and boxing. Surviving are his wife of almost 56 years, Nancy L. Herzing Huckabone whom he married January 21, 1960, four children, Lonelle M. (Glenn) Baker of Forks, WA, Douglas J. (Tina) Huckabone of Jamestown, Jon D. Huckabone of Sarasota, FL, Keith E. (J. Leeann) Huckabone of Tulsa, OK, eight grandchildren, Ann (Josiah) Wallin of Warren, PA, Martin (Sarah) Huckabone of Alfred, NY, Holly (Michael) Yezzi of Jamestown, Caleb Huckabone of Denver, CO, Noah Huckabone, Kenedy Huckabone, Kegan Huckabone all of Tulsa, OK, Molly Rickert of Coscoe, ME, a great granddaughter, Gwenivere Wallin, a brother, Darrell (Liz) Huckabone of North Tonawanda, NY, two sisters, Sandra Loeffler, Trudy Bundy and two half sisters, Freda Okerson Chinn and Rose McArthur. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ernest Huckabone, Jr., Curt Huckabone, Kenneth Huckabone, two sisters, Naomi Launer, Joyce Oknefski and two great grandchildren, Mitchel and Brice Wallin. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in Zion Covenant Church. The Rev. Rick Miller, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home.
