Obituary of Betty B. King

Betty Leah Bush King, 92 of 4772 Hunt Road, Ashville, NY, passed away Monday morning December 28, 2015, in the Heritage Green Nursing home in Greenhurst, NY. Although a lifelong resident of Ashville, she was born in Canton, Ohio, Oct 15, 1923, the daughter of Charles L. and Hazel R. Bush. Soon after her birth the family moved to Ashville, where she spent the rest of her life. She attended school at the Ashville Union Free School and graduated from the Lakewood High School. Following her graduation she worked as a secretary at the Davis Furniture Corp. in Jamestown, and at the Vanstee Furniture Corp. in Jamestown as an executive secretary. She met her Husband, Conrad R. King of Ashville, and married him on June 8, 1946. She was a devoted Wife, Mother of 4, Grandmother of 8, and Great Grand Mother of 11. She was extremely happy to be able to be with the entire family in her home in Ashville for Christmas this year. Betty was a stay at home mom and made her family her life. After the kids were grown she went to work as office manager at the family business, Kings' Heating and Sheet Metal in Falconer. Conrad and Betty ran the business until their retirement in 1986. At that time their 4 sons took over the business. In retirement, Conrad and Betty traveled to many places throughout the world. They visited Australia, New Zealand, China, Hong Kong, England, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, many of the Caribbean Islands, and all 50 States. Also, following retirement, they bought a 2nd home in Brandenton, Florida where they spent winters for the next 15 years. Betty was a lifelong member of the Ashville United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and was very active with the Women's Society. She was also a member of the Gideon's and was an avid golfer and bowler. She was preceded in death by her parents; Charles L. and Hazel R. Bush of Ashville, NY, a brother; Harry L. Bush of Jamestown, NY, a brother; C. Ronald Bush of Lakewood, NY, a son; Douglas C. King of Ashville, NY, and daughter-in-law; Lori C. King of Ashville. She is survived by her husband; Conrad R. King of Ashville, a sister; Dorothy Mae (Harold) Erickson of Ashville, her 3 sons; David P. (Alby) King of Ashville, Leslie M. (Kimberly) King of Ashville, Terry R. (Connie) King of Ashville, a daughter-in-law; Douglas's wife (P. Deborah) King of Ashville, 8 Grandchildren; D. Wayne King of Jamestown, NY, Michael S. (Erica) King of Ashville, William D. (Jamie) King of Ashville, Sarah (Jason) Tonon of Jamestown, NY, Stefanie (Anthony) Lizauckas of Buffalo, NY, Corinne R. King of Somerville, MA, Erin D. (Matt) Carnes of Lakewood, NY, Shannen L. (James) Colton of Hamburg, NY, and 11 Great Grand Children. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Ashville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Nicholas Perry, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home.
