Obituary of Mary Lou Reichard

Mary Lou Lauinger Reichard, 77, of 644 Stowe St., died Saturday, January 9, 2016 in her home. She was born July 7, 1938 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Joseph and Myrtle Rhodes Lauinger. Her 1956 Falconer Central School yearbook superlative relates, "the mildest manners and gentlest heart". For over thirty years, the vicious ravages of Mary Lou's multiple sclerosis were faced with quiet bravery and emphatic dignity. She was a student of the American Institute of Banking of Washington D.C. and had been employed by the former 1st National Bank of Falconer as bookkeeper and teller. She also worked for Randolph Central School for ten years. Mary Lou is survived by her husband of 55 years, C. Alton Reichard; three sons: David (Tammy) Reichard of Falconer, Lt. Col. Ret. Thomas (Marjorie) Reichard of Houston, TX, and her beloved caretakers, Jon and Mala Reichard of Jamestown; as well as eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A private family tribute will take place when the wild blue violets visit again. Inurnment will be in the Fluvanna Cemetery.
