Obituary of Carol L. McKay

Carol McKay, 78, wife of the late Martin McKay, died January 25, 2016 of natural causes at the Lutheran Home in Jamestown, NY. Carol was born January 13, 1938 to William and Phyllis (Towle) Landgraf of Elmira, NY. She was an accomplished Spanish teacher and textbook resource author. She earned degrees in Spanish from Florida Southern University, Eastern Kentucky University, and The Ohio State University. Across her 40-year career, she taught Spanish at secondary school and university levels in Kentucky (John's Creek, Richmond), North Carolina (Cullowhee), and Ohio (New Concord, Clairsville, Cambridge). She retired to St. Augustine, Florida, where she was active in Trinity Episcopal Church and the St. Augustine Community Chorus. She is survived by her daughter Katherine Levy of Brocton NY; grandson Aaron Levy of Middletown CT; and brother-in-law Chester McKay of Bradenton, FL. Carol cherished adopted cats and dogs throughout her life, therefore the family asks that memorial donations be made to Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
