Obituary of James C. Milks

James C. Milks, 71, of 258 Willard St., died Saturday, February 20, 2016 at UPMC Hamot in Erie. He was born December 2, 1944 in Salamanca, NY, the son of the late Merle D. and Evelyn McKay Milks. Jim was a veteran of the US Air Force, serving from 1965 to 1969 He received a degree from Jamestown Community College, and had been employed for 31 years at the City Hall of Jamestown, retiring as maintenance supervisor. Jim was a lifelong country music musician. He was the leader of, played in, and member of numerous area country music bands throughout the years. He belonged to the Country Music Assoc., the Samuel Derby Post 556 American Legion in Frewsburg, as well as the Moose, VFW and War Vets. Surviving is his wife, Linda Klang Milks, whom he married June 10, 1967; two daughters, Deborah M. Gray and Karen L. Brown, both of Jamestown; and five grandchildren: Trent J., Danielle E. and Traden L. Gray, and Skylyn M. and Sierra M. Brown. Also surviving are six siblings: Doris DeBoy, Helen (Jim) Barbaglia, Cheryl (Steve) Crowley, Charles Grover, Linda (Douglas) Meyers and Michael Grover; two brothers-in-law, Lee Nickerson and George Schroeder; and many nieces, nephews and great- nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Nickerson and Janice Schroeder. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home, led by Jim's nephew, Tim Nickerson. Friends will be received for three hours prior to the service, from 12:00 noon to 3 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hospice of Chautauqua County, 20 W. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 141750.
