Obituary of Margaret I. Thorn

Margaret I. "Peggy" Thorn, 69, of 42 Lakin Ave., died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 30, 2016 in the Emergency Room of WCA Hospital. She was born November 22, 1946 in Washington, D.C., a daughter of the late David Risinger and Margaret Risinger Laney. Peggy enjoyed playing Bingo and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed attending all of their sporting events and school functions as she cheered them on with the most beautiful smile on her face. She cared for her family for many years and will be remembered as a wonderful, caring, loving and forgiving woman, wife, mother and grandmother. Her husband, Bill, has said that she loved her family dearly and was the glue that held them together. Peggy was as perfect as perfect could be and was truly an angel here on earth. Peggy was loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed. Peggy will be sadly missed by her adoring husband of 50 years, William E. Thorn, Jr., whom she married November 12, 1965; their three children: Brandi (Mike Perkins) Hallenbeck of Frewsburg, Kelly (Ivan) Lopez of Lackawanna, N.Y. and Jason (Heather Carlson) Thorn of Erie, Pa.; and eight grandchildren: Kayla Robinson of Jamestown, Noah Lopez, Jovan "Bubba" Lopez and Jordan Lopez of Lackawanna, Ahliyah Thorn of Jamestown, Madelyn Thorn of Erie, and Logan Hallenbeck and Olivia Hallenbeck of Frewsburg. She is also survived by five brothers: William, Elgin, Butch, James and Charles Laney; six sisters: Phyllis Pickott, Ruth Ann Cordell, June Sarra, Patricia Wilson Cipolla, Barbara Laney and Nancy Skultedy; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Laney. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald E. Ray will officiate. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be made to the March of Dimes, 385 N. French Rd., Amherst, N.Y. 14228; or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
