Obituary of Florence E. Cline

Florence E. Cline, 96, of Memory Garden at Tanglewood Manor, formerly of Falconer passed away Tuesday April 5, 2016 in WCA Hospital. An area resident since the age of 2, she was born June 15, 1919 in New Rochelle, NY the daughter of the late William C. and Florence K. Harding Mitchell. She was a 1938 graduate of Jamestown High School. A veteran of WWII, Florence served in the US Navy as an Aerial Gunnery instructor in Florida and Hawaii. Prior to retirement in 1985, she was office manager and bookkeeper at the former Union National Inc. Florence was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ for over 60 years; Chautauqua County Trail Riders; National Square Dance Campers assoc; and the Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion in Celoron. She enjoyed horseback riding, bowling, western square dancing, camping, traveling with her husband in their motor home, and swimming at JCC until she was 92. Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Nelson and Sandra Cornell, both of Ashville; a son, John H. Cline of Falconer; seven grandchildren, Stacey Stevens of Lakewood; Jennifer Nelson and Paul Nelson both of Ashville; Daniel DiMaio of Ashburn, VA; Robert DiMaio of Mathews, NC; Kelly Seaholm of Falconer; Kimberly Youngberg of Jamestown; and 12 great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harold F. Cline whom she married February 2, 1946 and who died June 15, 2002; two sisters, Catherine Rogers and Marion Hurley; and two brothers, John C. Mitchell and Thomas W. Mitchell. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service Saturday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
