Obituary of Elizabeth M. Geisler

Elizabeth M. Geisler, 80, of 277 State Street, Jamestown, went to be with God Almighty at 8:45 a.m. Sunday, April 17, 2016. She was born on May 17, 1935 in St. Toenis (St. Anthony), Germany, the daughter of Arnold and Elisabeth Kamp. She was the wife of Henry A. Geisler, whom she married in St. Toenis, Germany, on June 23, 1956, and together they immigrated to the United States in June 1958. She was educated through the 8th grade within the German education system, continuing with three years of on the job training in office procedures. After moving to America, she earned a high school equivalency diploma and an Associate in Applied Science Degree from SUNY at Jamestown Community College. Elizabeth was employed at the Rosario's Restaurant in early years, then Union National Furniture, the Red Coach Inn and Restaurant, and Falconer Glass Industries. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and St. James Roman Catholic Church. She was also a Cub Scout Leader, a volunteer at the WCA Gift Shop and was Past President of Club Alpen, the Jamestown German club. In addition to her husband, surviving are five sons, all former US military officers: LTC. Arnold Henry (Elfriede) of Neumarkt, Germany, MAJ. Thomas Paul (Tari) of West Ellicott, Jamestown, CPT. Ronald Peter (Elisabeth) of Neuss, Germany, LT. Andrew James (Cheryl) of Vancouver, WA., and MAJ. John Albert (Dodi) of Windermere, FL.; fifteen grandchildren: Maria R., Matthew A., and Christoph L., all of Germany, Thomas R. of Sharon, PA. and John A. of Russell, PA,, Birgitta M. and Annika E., both of Vancouver, WA., Alexandria E., Sean H., and Natasha M., all of Mountaintop, PA., Jacob Plouffe of Lockport, NY, Michaela Plouffe, Zachary D., Sophie E. and Hanna Joy of Windermere, FL; and a great-granddaughter, Kallaway of Russell, PA. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 22 in the Lind Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 23 in St. James RC Church. The Rev. Father Joseph Carlo will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St James Outreach, 27 Allen St., Jamestown, NY 14701.
