Obituary of Dale F Long

Dale F. Long, 70, of Venice, FL and formerly of Lakewood, NY, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born April 8, 1945 to the late Neale Long and Cecelia Goodfellow. He was a 1963 graduate of East Aurora High School. He was also a United States Air Force veteran, having served in the Vietnam War. Prior to retiring, he worked for Agway and Sam's Club. He was also a member of the Lakewood Memorial Post 1286 American Legion and Lakewood Rod and Gun. Surviving are his children: Stephen of Jamestown, Michael of Venice FL, Jenell (Jerry) of Mayville; Spanish exchange children Isaac Esparza (Maria Gaztambide) of Houston TX, Conchita Sacristan of Madrid Spain, and Montse Barbat (Michel) of Barcelona Spain; Grandchildren: Stephen, Alexis, Christopher, Vincent, Federico, and Clara; 3 brothers: Daniel (Mary Ann) of East Aurora, Rodney of East Aurora, and Bruce (Sandy) of Elma; and sisters: Shirley Burdett of Elma and Pamela Reed of South Wales. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife Kathy, step father Walter Goodfellow, brother Samuel, sister in law Francis, brother in law Rick Reed, brother in law Richard Bartelt, brother in law Dale Burdett, and sister in law Marilyn Long. Family and friends will be received on Monday, April 18, 2016 from 1pm-3pm and 6pm-8pm at the Lind Funeral Home, Jamestown NY. In between visiting hours, from 3pm-5pm, family and friends are invited to the American Legion Post 1286 in Lakewood for food and beverage. Please bring memories and kind thoughts of Dale to share during this time. Burial will be in Bentley Cemetery, Lakewood NY. Memorials may be made to your local hospice or Tidewell Hospice of Venice FL.
