Obituary of Percy A. Johnson

Percy A. Johnson, Jr. 94, formerly of Shadyside Rd. Lakewood, NY and Tanglewood Manor, went to his home with the Lord at 1:40 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2016, in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. A lifelong area resident, he was born May 31, 1921 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late Percy A. and Mildred Freeburg Johnson, Sr. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II from October 19, 1942 to Valentines Day, February 14, 1946, having served in this country as a guard over German prisoner's . Before his retirement in 1983, he was employed by the Marlin Rockwell Corporation and was also the owner and instructor for the Johnson Driving School for many years. Surviving is a daughter, Suzanne Kay Johnson McKean and her husband Robert W. McKean, a granddaughter, Susan Eileen McKean Hall and her husband David Brian Hall, all of North Carolina. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife the former Floy M. Fairbanks Johnson whom he married December 25, 1941 and who died November 23, 2002. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 20 North Phetteplace, Falconer, NY. The Rev. Timothy J. Hoyer, pastor will officiate. There will be a time of reminiscing with family and friends following the service in fellowship hall. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Stockton, NY. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
