Obituary of Mary Ann Baldwin

Mary Ann Baldwin, 88, formerly of Hultquist Place, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, May 12, 2016, in the Lutheran Retirement Home. A lifelong area resident, she was born April 28, 1928 in Jamestown, the daughter of Oscar and Signe Olson Herman. Mary Ann was a 1946 graduate of Jamestown High School, and graduated from Millard Fillmore School of Nursing in Buffalo, NY as a Registered Nurse. She blessed the lives of thousands through a long and varied career as a nurse in the Jamestown area, most recently through the Visiting Nurses Association and Lutheran Retirement Home. She was a longtime member of First Covenant Church. She will be remembered as a deeply devoted, loving wife and mother, who selflessly dedicated her life to care of, concern for, and interest in, others. She delighted in simple pleasures, laughed loudly and often, with a keen sense of humor that touched everyone who knew her. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her mother and father; her sister, Virginia Herman; and her husband, Stuart Kennedy Baldwin, whom she married September 13, 1952, and who died February 21, 2012. She is survived by a daughter, Beth (John) McCanna and a son, Mark K. (Ardith) Baldwin, both of Jamestown; four granddaughters: Heather McCanna (Greg) Carlson of Jamestown; Rebecca McCanna (Justin) Hollm of Columbia, SC; Kristin Baldwin of Stockholm, Sweden; and Kelly Baldwin of Stockholm, Sweden; and two twin great-grandchildren, John and Leala Carlson of Jamestown. She also is survived by her sister- and brother-in-law Martha (Baldwin) and James Everhart of Gerry. The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel Rumfelt, Lutheran Retirement Home Chaplain, and Rev. Adam Rohler, Pastor at First Covenant Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
