Obituary of Betty Ann Lattimore

Betty Ann Lattimore (nee Carter), 87, of Buffalo, N.Y., formerly of Merlin Ave. W.E., Jamestown, passed away Friday, April 29, 2016 at Sisters Hospital in Buffalo. She had resided in Buffalo since 1995. Betty Ann was born January 25, 1929 in Donora, Pa., a daughter of the late Fred D. and Olivia Timbers Carter. She had been employed for many years by the Automatic Voting Machine Co. in Jamestown and as a teacher's aide in the Jamestown Public School System. Betty Ann was a member of and worshipped at the Blackwell Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Jamestown. Surviving are two daughters and a son: Cindy O. Powell (Winston) of New Jersey, Mary Jo Young (Oliver) of Buffalo, and Edwin E. Lattimore, Jr. (Joyce) of Rochester, N.Y.; five grandsons, five great-grandchildren and three granddaughters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. In addition, Betty Ann is survived by six of her eight siblings: Violet Alexander (William), Shirley Dickey (the late Jay), Fred Douglas Carter, Jr. (Mary Ann), Hays Carter (Diane), William Stanley Carter (Liz) and Carl Thomas Carter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin E. Lattimore, Sr., whom she married March 9, 1952 and who died January 14, 1992; and a sister, Pauline Darby (the late Richard) and brother, Floyd Daniel Carter (Cathy). A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016 in the Lind Funeral Home. A private interment will be in Lake View Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21 in the funeral home. Flowers shall be accepted and donations may be made to the Hospice Buffalo Foundation, 225 Como Park Blvd., Cheektowaga, N.Y. 14227.
