Obituary of Mary Anne Ferrara

Mary Anne Ferrara, 91, of 837 Fairmount Ave. WE, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 14, 2016 in WCA Hospital. She was the widow of Anthony J. Ferrara, whom she married October 13, 1945 and who died February 20, 1994. Mary Anne was born in Jamestown on August 15, 1924, a daughter of the late Dominic and Mary Grace Colasanti Marucci. She was a 1943 graduate of Bemus Point Central School and attended Western Union School in Washington, D.C. In earlier years, she was employed by the Murphy's, Sears and Grant's department stores. A woman of deep faith, she was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, having belonged to and serving as secretary of the Altar & Rosary Society, working on its many activities and receiving a volunteering award. Mary Anne was a very gentle woman; she enjoyed her children and grandchildren and always had an encouraging word for everyone. Surviving are two daughters: Virginia Marie (Thomas) Lovvorn of Jamestown and Susan (Daniel) McIntyre of Lakewood; five grandchildren: Julie (Scott) Shilling of Jamestown, Lynn (Mark) Dollard of Jamestown, Douglas McIntyre of Concord, N.C., Thomas Lovvorn of Jamestown and Annmarie Lovvorn of Jamestown; three great-grandchildren: Taige Eckwahl, Kelly Dollard and Andy Dollard; and a brother, Anthony P. Marucci of Jamestown. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Nicholas, Salvatore and Angelo Marucci; and two sisters, Rachel Vollentine and Dollie Marinkovich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Piotr Zaczynski will be celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Church, 380 E. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, N.Y. 14750.
