Obituary of Ralph Eugene Barden

Ralph Eugene "Gene" Barden, 78, formerly of 11 Collins Ave. and Shirley Lane, died peacefully Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing. He was born February 6, 1938 in Jamestown, a son of the late Virgil and Ruth Dikeman Barden. Gene was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1955 until 1958. He had been employed by Crescent Tool for many years, and retired from Chautauqua Hardware. Gene liked electronics, including radios and even building televisions in earlier years. He also enjoyed flying. Surviving is a brother, Weldon T. (Kathy) Barden of Jamestown; and a niece and four nephews: Robin Barden, Scott Barden, Todd Barden, Duane Johnston and Ryan Johnston. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Gail M. Johnston. Per Gene's request, no service or visitation will be observed. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
