Obituary of Roger W. Walsh

Roger W. Walsh, 84, of 69 Brookside Estates Drive, Jamestown, died Sunday May 15, 2015 in WCA Hospital. A Jamestown native, he was born November 28, 1931, a son of the late Thomas and Laura Breth Walsh. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Army from 1952-54. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard, Kittery, Maine repairing US Navy atomic submarines. In his early career he worked in Jamestown at Holsom Bakery, Watson Manufacturing, Jamestown Metal Products and Royal Metal Products. He was a partner in Capital Ambulance in Washington, DC and worked alongside his brother Richard in construction and trucking. Roger loved antique cars and collected many things. He was an avid fan of movies and could tell you facts about the films and the actors who starred in them. Surviving is his wife Diana Covert Walsh of Sanford, ME; two daughters Janet (Robert) Fredrick of Jamestown and Kathleen (Mark Laverriere) Walsh of Maine; a daughter-in-law Kim Walsh of Sinclairville; four grandchildren Jason and Matthew Fredrick of Jamestown, Adam Walsh of Cassadaga and Ashley Walsh of Frewsburg; two great grandchildren Bryce Jedrysic of Frewsburg and Andrew Staples of Jamestown; two sisters Donna Abbey of Lakewood and Kathleen Davis of Florida; a brother Richard Walsh of Florida and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death a son Steven Walsh and two sisters Ednamae LoPresti and Margie Saueressig. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Veterans Grove of Lake View Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed. You may leave words of condolence at www.lindfuneralhome.com.
