Obituary of Onalee S Hawley

Onalee S. Hawley, 88, formerly of Maple Springs, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016, in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. An area resident her entire life, she was born May 2, 1928 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Clyde and Marjorie Casselman Stowell. She was a graduate of Bemus Point High School and was a member of West Ellery Aides Society, a charter member of the Maple Springs Fire Department Auxiliary, and the National Railway Historical Society, Lakeshore Chapter. She was an avid reader and especially reading the Reminisce Magazine and loved being with her family. Onalee is survived by a daughter Debbie (Brad) Crist of Bemus Point, with whom she resided with for the past 7 years, a son David (Nancy) Hawley of Frewsburg, 11 grandchildren Heather, Jeremy, Justin, Shannon, Amber, Kelli, Michael David, Tracy, Michael Allan, Brandon, Kira, 17 great- grandchildren, two brothers, Glenwood Stowell of Brockport, NY and Maurice Stowell of Ellington, NY, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Hawley, whom she married Oct. 11, 1947 and who passed away April 4, 2005, a son C. Douglas Hawley, who passed away April 4, 2001, a brother Donald Stowell, and a sister Irene Hallberg. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2016 in the Lind Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in Bemus Point Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
