Obituary of Guy A. Furlow

Guy A. Furlow, born July 4, 1959 to Stanley D. Furlow Sr. and Patricia M. Gilbert entered into eternal rest on Sunday June 5, 2016 after a long battle with heart disease. He attended Jamestown High School and Jamestown Community College. A US Air Force Veteran, Guy served from March 21, 1980 until his discharge as a Staff Sgt. July 1, 1992. He was stationed in the Philippines for over a year and served in Alaska twice, working in Chapel Management. Following his discharge, he worked as stockroom supervisor at IRR Supply and as a Family Development Counselor and Child Care worker at the GA Home. In recent years, he was 100% service connected disabled. Guy was a member of the Henry Mosher Post 638 American Legion in Falconer. He enjoyed going to the casino, target shooting, computer games, watching Judge Judy, Jerry Springer, and listening to Oldies music. Guy was lovingly called "Uncle Guy" to all people who needed a friend. He had a big heart and would do anything for anyone even at the exclusion of himself. He was very devoted to his family and loved them all very much. He will be sadly missed by many. He is survived by his mother, Patricia Gilbert of Jamestown; a sister, Hope Furlow of Falconer; five brothers, Stan Furlow Jr. of Tennessee; Pat Benedetto of Jamestown; Tim (Tania) Benedetto of Virginia; Scott Furlow, Chris Furlow both of Illinois; one step brother, Randy Furlow of Georgia; six nieces; eight nephews; six great-nephews; three great-nieces; as well as six aunts; six uncles; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley D. Furlow Sr.; his maternal grandparents, Edward and Mabel Gilbert; his paternal grandparents, Ernie and June Furlow and Virginia Swanson; plus many aunts and uncles. The funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. Dr. Douglas Penhollow and Rev. Daniel Keefe will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
