Obituary of Jeffrey Lynn Peterson

Jeffrey Lynn Peterson, 61, of 207 Avalon Blvd. W.E. passed away at 5:20 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2016, in the Roswell Park Cancer Institute, following complications of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. A lifelong area resident, he was born March 7, 1955 in Jamestown, NY a son of Gale L. Johnson Peterson and the late J. Raymond Peterson. Jeff was a 1973 graduate of Jamestown High School and graduated from Jamestown Community College in 1975. Prior to his sudden illness, he was employed as a customer service technician for Windstream Communications, where he had worked for 37 years. He was a member of the First Covenant Church, the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, the Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 2374. Jeff will be remembered as a loving and caring family man who took great pride in the accomplishments of his son's. He enjoyed going to their many sporting events and musical concerts. He also loved animals especially his two English Springer Spaniels, "Harley Dee" and "Willie Gee" and was also an avid woodworker. Surviving are his wife of 25 years, Tammy Marie Franco Peterson whom he married October 20, 1990, his mother, Gale J. Peterson of Jamestown, two sons, Alexander J. Peterson of Erie, PA, Blake A. Peterson of Jamestown, a brother, Mark T. (Jane) Peterson of Fredericksburg, VA, a sister, Mary Beth (Chip) Johnson of Jamestown and his four nieces and nephew, Raechel (Ryan) Waid, Thomas (Kari) Peterson, Krista (Eric) Freund, Katie (Billy) Miley and Kelsey Johnson. He was preceded in death by his father J. Raymond Peterson who died April 18, 2013 and his mother in law, Sonja M. Pearson who died August 17, 2012. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Adam Rohler, pastor of the First Covenant Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
