Obituary of Violet May Johnson

Violet May Johnson, 88, of 118 Wescott Street, died Wednesday June 8, 2016, in WCA Hospital. A lifelong Jamestown resident, she was born November 13, 1927, the daughter of the late Jones and Ester Anderson Thompson. Prior to her retirement in 1990, she was employed by MRC for 25 years. She attended First Covenant Church, volunteered for Special Olympics and enjoyed cooking, gardening and solving crossword puzzles. Surviving are her husband Robert F. Johnson, whom she married in 1984; three children Karen Mattison and Donna Olson both of Jamestown and Douglas Klenck of Niles, OH; four stepchildren Kathy (Norm) Kenny of Dudley, NC, Michael (Linda) Johnson of Spotsylvania, VA, Dan (Bambi) Johnson of Arizona and Patricia (David) Illingworth of Lakewood; five grandchildren Lori (Jonathan) Koznesoff, Scott (Marlana) Mattison, Jill Klenck Kenyon, Kristine Fuller and Aaron Fuller; ten step grandchildren Traci (Stan) Carter, Kelly (John) Allio, Celeste (Dean) Glover, Christopher (Dorothy) Gatto, Hilary (Jamie Lane) Gatto, Patricia (Brian) Thornbrugh, Jaret (Jamie) Illingworth, Katelyn (Frank) Tierney, Melissa Illingworth and Justin Illingworth and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband Waldo "Wally" Olson; grandson Steven Mattison and three brothers Carl, Donald and Harold Thompson. The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. David B. Larson, retired director of visitation for First Covenant Church will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service Saturday in the funeral home.
